Free Carrier (FCA)

What does Free Carrier (FCA) mean?

When the importer loads coffee onto a carrier at the warehouse, the roaster assumes risk and pays for transport, insurance, and losses. The contract will list FCA and the pickup warehouse.

Free Carrier (FCA) explained in simple terms

💡
At a warehouse, the person who sells coffee puts the coffee onto a truck or a ship, and the person who buys the coffee becomes responsible for it. The buyer pays for the truck or ship to move the coffee, and if something bad happens to the coffee, they have to pay for it. On the contract, the buyer will see the letters FCA and the name of the warehouse where they pick up the coffee.
