Ex Warehouse (EXW)

What does Ex Warehouse (EXW) mean?

If you choose Ex-warehouse option, you arrange transport and assume risk at the warehouse. Importer only prepares the coffee. This term is also called Ex-works in the coffee trade contract.
In ‘coffee trade slang’, Ex-warehouse is called Ex-works. On your contract, you will find the term ‘Ex-works’ followed by the warehouse and the reference to the Incoterms 2010.

Ex-warehouse is when the roaster takes on the risk of the coffee after it has been prepared and is ready for pickup at the warehouse. The roaster has to arrange and pay for transport themselves. The term Ex-works means the same thing in the coffee industry, and it will be written on the contract along with the warehouse name and Incoterms 2010.
