What is an omni roast?
An omni roast is a single roast profile designed to suit all brew methods - from espresso to filter. The idea is to highlight the unique character of a coffee without needing separate roasts for each style.
Traditionally, roasters have used different profiles depending on how the coffee will be brewed. Lighter roasts tend to work well for filter methods, while espresso often needs more development to avoid sourness or sharp acidity. That’s why some coffees are roasted twice - one version for filter, another for espresso.
Omni roasters take a different approach. They believe one well-balanced roast can show the coffee’s strengths across different brews. The flavour might shift between methods - with body and deeper notes coming through in French press, and acidity or citrus more prominent in espresso - but the core character stays intact.
