What does Screen-drying mean?
Screen-drying, also known as Raised Bed or Africa Bed drying, is a coffee drying method that originated in Ethiopia and is now used in many coffee producing countries. The method involves spreading coffee beans on elevated screens or mats to allow for sun and convective air movements to flow through the coffee. This process facilitates even drying of the coffee, resulting in a more consistent and higher quality product.
Compared to other drying methods, such as Patio-drying, screen-drying is considered superior for several reasons.
